Hunters Croft is the home of Achouffe Gundogs and Border Terriers. We are a small, select, transparent, unassuming and yet successful Kennel where all our dogs are shown and worked throughout the season. Collectively for over a quarter of a century we have bred and made up Champions, bred/owned eleven UK KC Stud Book entries.

Weimaraners are our first love and Julie was privileged to own and handle her Weimaraner to take Group 2 at Crufts in 2000, a place which has not yet been exceeded, it was the greatest of beginnings to the millennium.

We are members of the Weimaraner Club of GB, the Weimaraner Association, the Norfolk & Suffolk HPR FT Club, the SRHP Club, the UK Border Terrier Club and abide by all their rules, regulations and Code of Ethics.

We judge KC General Working Tests, all gundog breeds at Open Show level and award KC Challenge Certificates in Weimaraners at Championship Shows.

Breeding quality top winning & history making dual champion puppies, awarded Top Breeders 2011, 2015 & 2016 breeding Top Puppy 2010, 2011, 2015 & 2016.  We also gained the very first Field Trial Award here in the UK and subsequent Stud Book No.4519CR with our Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer, Ansona Alara avec Achouffe (Fen).  As founder members of the SRHP Club provisional Julie served on their committee for over seven years alongside the late Margaret Holmes & Mick Heap, she currently writes the Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer breed notes and articles for Dog World newspaper and is the content editor of the digital Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer magazine.

With the emphasis being on the working hpr Mark is the quietest and most patient of trainers devoting his time in helping others and more importantly the owners of our puppies achieve that special teamwork relationship via training days which our kennel provides throughout the year. This has also enabled us to raise money for many charities and good causes such as the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, Cancer Research, the Weimaraner Association, the Eve Appeal (formerly the Gynaecological Cancer Research Fund), Help for Heroes and the National Gamekeepers Organisation (NGO).

Border Terriers were the latest addition to join our family at the beginning of this millennium who not only enjoy showing and working on our local shoot, but playing on the beach and taking a dip in the North Sea or simply hacking out with the horses.

Take a look at the millennium dogs and puppies which we have bred, check out their achievements or pictorial pedigrees on Some of our Family pages.  Learn about the dogs which we have at home who are all health screened and DNA profiled as recommended by the Kennel Club. They live, sleep, work and play together thoroughly enjoying their lives completely to the max; and we happily enjoy participating in this euphoria by owning, showing and working them.

Here we are Kennel Club Affiliate Members and Kennel Club approved Assured Breeders of all our three breeds (passing the KC’s ABS latest inspection with no recommendations required) who occasionally offer responsibly and carefully bred litters, take gundogs for training giving help and support freely to the best of our knowledge and ability whenever requested in all our beloved breeds.

These  photos are centred around our cottage Hunters Croft (pictured) which is situated on the edge of the village of Billinghay in Lincolnshire, it is flanked by the beautiful river Skirth which is inhabited by lots of wildlife and fowl.
